THE FORT HAILS THE 4TH WITH CANNON FIRE AND HEARTY BUFFALO ON THE GRILL
Morrison, CO - The Fort will celebrate Independence Day amidst cannon fire and fine buffalo steaks on Tuesday, July 4th. The evening’s celebration will kick off with a long-time Fort tradition, a cannoneer in period dress will fire a 19th century cannon on the hour from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., proclaiming our country’s independence. Entertaining us for the evening will be Pat Carbone with his claw-hammer banjo and flat top acoustic guitar. Through the dining room and courtyard you may hear a western ballad, waltz, old-time classic, jig or driving fiddle tune.
The Fort will be serving an all-American favorite this 4th of July, succulent Smoke House BBQ Buffalo Ribs, a choice of a full or half rack of buffalo ribs, marinated and slowly braised then grilled and smothered in a tangy Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. (TV Food Network’s Bobby Flay stated, “The Fort has the best BBQ ribs that I’ve ever tasted.”). Fun summer drinks that will liven up any celebration include the classic Piña Colada, a refreshing blend of coconut, pineapple and white rum. For a twist on the original, try the Padre Pelayo which is a colada with a blessing of Frangelico liqueur.
Other favorites prepared by The Fort will include the 14-ounce Buffalo Bone-in New York Strip
Steak; Colorado Lamb Chops, grilled double thick chops with lamb jus, fresh mint pesto and Irish “Champ” potatoes; and Fresh Fruit Cobbler, served in a cast iron pot and topped with vanilla ice cream. Appetizers, drinks and desserts may be enjoyed on The Fort’s patio overlooking Denver’s city lights.
The Fort was recently named a “Must-See Dining” location by the Rocky Mountain News and 5280 Magazine’s Readers’ Choice for “Top of The Town: Classic Denver Restaurant”. The Fort is located just 22 minutes southwest of downtown Denver on Highway 8, just north of the Highway 285 intersection. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
