GHOST AT THE FORT, NEW YEARS EVE 2009!
The First Colorado Independent Battery was firing their 1735 Heavy French Six Pounder Replica (blanks only) in celebration of the New Year at the Fort Restaurant, in Morrison, Colorado. The Fort is a replica of the Bents Brothers Trading Fort during the "Mountain Man" era of the early 1800's and is the site where the heads of state for the "G 8" meeting took place in 1997.
After firing several rounds, the attached picture was taken prior to the final shoot of the evening. What is interesting to note, is that the Cannon has not been fired (Captain Marsh has the primer in his hand and Lieutenant Harris, has the lanyard in her hand. Plus there is no smoke to the front of the cannon). So what is the vapor that appears in the foreground of this picture which is at the rear of the cannon?
The photo was sent to Mr. Terry Datz of Denver (a student of the paranormal) and his reply was that the element was plasma (only identifiable by a camera) of a manifestation of a ghost! So whose ghost can it be? The original site of the Fort was a toll station, operated by a Francis Kendrick in the 1870's, who charged for the toll road though Turkey Creek Canyon. Upon showing the photo to the current owner of the Fort, Holly Arnold Kinney, she believed it was the ghost of her father, Sam Arnold, who built and ran the restaurant until his death in 2006. Ms. Kinney remarked that "It was surely Sam as we feel his presence around here all the time. Especially in the Kitchen where the Chefs know to follow the recipes precisely as Sam is looking over their shoulder"!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
